Overview

Explore Arenal's volcanic landscapes, rainforest bridges, and La Fortuna Waterfall on a private guided outing. This experience combines three contrasting natural attractions in one day. Your group explores the region with a dedicated guide.

Start with a volcano hike that introduces Arenal's geological history. Your guide explains how past eruptions shaped the terrain and affected the surrounding landscape. The designated walking area offers a closer look at the region's volcanic features without climbing the summit.

Next, explore the tropical forest on trails and hanging bridges. Elevated crossings reveal different views of the vegetation. Your guide can explain forest ecology and help you look for wildlife, although sightings depend on natural conditions.

La Fortuna Waterfall adds another perspective. Follow the visitor trail and descend the stairs toward the base, where dense rainforest surrounds the waterfall. Remember that the return involves climbing those stairs.

The private Arenal Highlights tour suits couples, families, and friends who want to visit several major attractions together. A guide accompanies only your party, giving you more opportunities to ask questions. Private guiding, however, does not automatically mean you can change the route or schedule.

Pause at a local organic farm for a traditional Costa Rican lunch prepared on a wood-fired stove with fresh ingredients harvested from the farm.

We recommend this combination for travelers who want a varied day rather than three separate outings. Expect several walking sections, elevated bridges, and stairs. Consider these demands carefully if your group includes young children or someone with limited mobility.

The private Arenal Highlights tour focuses on experiencing distinct landscapes in a single itinerary. Each stop highlights a different feature of the area's remarkable natural setting. Weather, trail conditions, and the group's needs can influence how the day unfolds. Check the confirmed arrangements before choosing this option.

Questions Guests Usually Ask

Is the entire experience private?

Your guide and transportation are reserved for your group. The volcano reserve, La Fortuna Waterfall and Mistico are shared attractions, so other visitors will also be present.

Which attraction do we visit first?

The usual order is the volcano hike, La Fortuna Waterfall, lunch and Mistico Hanging Bridges. The order may change depending on weather, entrance availability or operational conditions.

How physically demanding is the day?

We consider it moderate to active. The volcano portion uses natural terrain, and La Fortuna Waterfall requires approximately 530 steps down and back up.

Can we swim at La Fortuna Waterfall?

Swimming may be possible in permitted areas when conditions are safe. Rain, water levels and currents can affect access.

Will we see wildlife at Mistico?

Mistico offers good opportunities for wildlife observation, especially with a naturalist guide, but specific sightings can never be guaranteed.

Is lunch included?

Yes. A Costa Rican lunch at a local organic farm is included. Please tell us about dietary requirements in advance.

Is this too much for children?

Active children can enjoy the experience, but parents should consider the length of the day and especially the staircase at La Fortuna Waterfall. If you're unsure whether it fits your family, ask us before booking.
