Overview
Private Hanging Bridges Tour in Arenal. Walk through the rainforest with a naturalist guide dedicated only to your group.
We slow down for fresh tracks, movement in the canopy, and calls hidden among the leaves.
Then the trail rises, placing you level with branches that are difficult to observe from below.
This is not a race across the bridges. It is a guided search through each forest layer.
What you’ll experience
We collect you from your hotel in the Arenal area and drive toward Místico Park. The reserve sits near Lake Arenal, around 20 minutes from La Fortuna. Your admission, private transportation, bottled water, and viewing equipment are included.
Once inside, we begin a 3.2-kilometer rainforest circuit on maintained trails. The complete route usually takes about two to three hours. Its gradual climbs allow us to move from the forest floor toward the upper canopy.
Along the route, we cross 16 bridges, including six hanging bridges. Some sections remain close to the ground. Others rise as high as 45 meters above the forest floor, opening a completely different viewing angle.
Your guide carries binoculars and a high-definition spotting scope. We pause whenever there is movement, a distant call, or an unusual shape among the branches. Monkeys, sloths, reptiles, and tropical birds live in this forest, but sightings always depend on the day. Wildlife here is wild, so we never promise a checklist.
This slower pace matters. Recent visitors repeatedly note that guides locate animals they would probably miss while walking alone. A private tour also gives us time to adjust the walk around children, photographers, birders, or guests who prefer additional breaks.
Clear weather may reveal Arenal Volcano between the trees. Clouds can cover it within minutes, though. Even without the volcano, the changing height of the trail remains the real reason to visit.
The experience lasts approximately 2.5 hours, excluding any variation caused by your pickup location or wildlife stops. We operate daily and arrange departure according to availability.
Our local recommendation
Choose an early departure when possible. Temperatures are usually more comfortable, and the forest often feels quieter before midday. Místico Park opens at 6:00 a.m., and its own visitor guidance also recommends mornings for wildlife observation.
Bring a light rain jacket even when La Fortuna looks sunny. Conditions change quickly near the volcano. Closed walking shoes with reliable grip are essential because shaded sections can remain damp.
Is this for you?
This Private Hanging Bridges Tour in Arenal works well for families, couples, photographers, birdwatchers, and first-time rainforest visitors. The maintained path is less technical than many natural hiking trails, although it still includes inclines and steps.
It may not suit guests who feel severe discomfort on moving suspension bridges. The route also requires walking approximately two miles in humid conditions.
Because the experience is fully private, we adapt our pace to your group. The park itself remains open to other visitors, so private service does not mean exclusive access to the reserve.
