Overview
Arenal Adventures ATV starts close to town, but the ride feels rural fast.
First, you leave the paved road behind.
Then the route moves into mud, river crossings, pineapple fields, and volcano viewpoints.
This is a wet, dirty, beginner-friendly ATV ride near Arenal.
What you'll experience
We start with pickup in the La Fortuna area or meet at our base near La Cristalina Gas Station. The location is only a few minutes from town, so you do not spend half the tour in a van.
Once you arrive, our guides help you check in and get your helmet and safety equipment. After that, we give a clear safety briefing before anyone starts driving.
You do not need ATV experience for this route. Because the ride takes place on a private farm, a driver’s license is not required. Drivers must be 16 years or older, and children can join as passengers.
First, you practice the basic controls and get used to the quad. Then we follow the guide into the off-road section.
The route lasts about 2 hours and mixes several types of terrain. You ride through jungle trails, muddy tracks, river crossings, open farm roads, and pineapple plantation areas.
When the weather is clear, you also get Arenal Volcano views from the higher sections. Still, this is Arenal, so clouds can cover the volcano at any time.
Midway through the ride, we stop at the Fortuna River. You can cool off, take photos, or just rinse off some of the mud before getting back on the ATV.
After the river stop, the ride continues through more off-road terrain. Expect puddles, splashes, bumps, and sections where your clothes will get dirty.
At the end, we return to the base for fresh fruit and hydration. The regular schedule includes 7:30 AM, 11:00 AM, and 2:30 PM departures.
Pricing is based on the vehicle. A single quad is $95 for one person, while a double quad is $135 for two people.
Our local recommendation
Choose Arenal Adventures ATV if you want a short, muddy ride close to La Fortuna. It is a good option when you want adventure without adding a long transfer.
This tour works well in the rainy season. More rain usually means more mud, deeper puddles, and a messier ride.
For the best experience, wear clothes you do not mind staining. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended. Bring a change of clothes, a towel, and a waterproof phone pouch.
Also, do not book this expecting a clean volcano-view drive. The fun here is the mud, water, and rough farm terrain.
Is this for you?
This tour is a good fit for first-time ATV drivers, couples, families, and groups who want a quick off-road activity near town. It is also a smart choice if you have limited time in La Fortuna.
It is not the best fit if you want a quiet nature tour or dislike getting muddy. The route includes water crossings, bumps, and wet sections.
Passengers should be comfortable holding on during uneven terrain. Drivers should feel ready to follow guide instructions and control the ATV at a safe pace.
Private tours are also available if your group wants a more flexible rhythm. That option is better for families with younger passengers, nervous beginners, or guests who prefer not to ride with a mixed group.
