Overview

Sky Adventures Ziplines is the high, open-air zipline experience in Arenal.
First, you ride the tram up the mountain.
Then, you come down by cable with Arenal Volcano, Lake Arenal, and rainforest below you.
This tour is fast, exposed, and built for big views with very little walking.

What you'll experience

We start at Sky Adventures Arenal Park, above the main La Fortuna area. Transportation is not included in the base ticket, but it can be added from many central La Fortuna hotels.

Once you arrive, your guides help you check in and fit your helmet, harness, and pulley. After that, we explain the platform process, body position, and safety system before the first line.

First, the tour begins with the aerial tram. It climbs more than 800 meters up the mountainside, so you get time to settle in before the zipline section starts.

At the top, you reach the Hand of Arenal viewpoint. From there, the route opens toward Lake Arenal, the volcano, and the forest canopy below.

Then the zipline course begins. Sky Adventures Ziplines includes 7 high-flying cables that run from mountain to mountain.

The longest line reaches more than 750 meters / 2,460 feet. At its highest point, the course reaches about 200 meters above the ground. Speeds can reach up to 70 km/h, depending on conditions.

After each cable, the route keeps moving quickly. You finish one line, step onto the next platform, and continue down the mountain. Because there are almost no walking sections, the whole experience feels smooth and direct.

Another important detail is the braking system. You do not brake with your hand on the cable. Instead, the course uses professional braking with a main system and backup system, while our guides handle each stop.

Since the route is so open, this tour feels different from lower forest canopy tours. You spend more time above the treetops, with wide crossings instead of short jungle tunnels.

The minimum age is 5 years old, but children must fit the equipment properly. The minimum height is 1.10 meters / 43 inches, and the maximum weight is 300 lb / 136 kg.

Our local recommendation

Choose Sky Adventures Ziplines if views matter as much as speed. This is one of the best Arenal options for seeing both the volcano and the lake from the air.

For clearer views, book an earlier departure when possible. Clouds can move in fast around Arenal, especially later in the day.

Also, this is a smart choice if you want less hiking. The tram takes you up, and the zipline course brings you back down.

Wear closed-toe shoes and light clothing. Bring a rain jacket if the forecast looks wet. Bags, phones, cameras, drones, hats, and loose items are not allowed during the zipline section.

Is this for you?

This tour is a good fit if you want a fast, scenic zipline route with minimal walking. It works well for families, couples, teens, and first-time zipliners who want a bigger view.

However, it is not the best fit if you want a slow wildlife-focused canopy tour. This experience is more about height, speed, and open mountain crossings.

It may also feel too intense if you dislike heights. The lines are long, high, and exposed.

Sky Adventures Ziplines is not suitable for pregnant guests or travelers with back, neck, bone, muscle, or heart conditions. Recent surgeries, fractures, casts, splints, or orthopedic boots are also restricted.
