Overview
Explore a protected, reforested habitat with the personal attention of a private guide. Search the canopy for wild two and three toed sloths, learn about their behavior at your group’s pace, then enjoy fresh sugarcane juice and a traditional tortilla making experience for a more personal connection with rural Costa Rican culture.
Private Sloth Watching Experience in La Fortuna
Slow down and experience La Fortuna’s wildlife without the pace or distractions of a shared group. During this private nature walk, your guide helps you scan the canopy, recognize subtle movement and understand the behaviors of the wild sloths that live within the property’s protected habitat.
The private format creates space for questions, closer interaction and explanations shaped around your group’s interests. Families can take the trail at a comfortable pace, couples can enjoy a quieter encounter with nature, and curious travelers can spend more time learning about sloth behavior, reforestation and the ecosystem that supports local wildlife.
The 1.5 kilometer trail passes through land that has been restored and protected over many years. Both two and three toed sloths may be found in the area, along with other native species. Because the animals move freely in their natural environment, observations depend on weather, timing and wildlife activity. Your guide’s experience helps improve the search while keeping every encounter respectful and nonintrusive.
After the walk, the experience becomes more personal through local food traditions. Help press sugarcane to prepare a fresh artisanal drink, then join Doña Elith for a hands-on tortilla making activity. A visit to the medicinal plant garden adds further insight into the knowledge and customs connected to rural life in Costa Rica.
More than a wildlife outing, this private experience combines attentive guiding, nature and cultural exchange. You leave with a deeper understanding of sloths, the habitat they depend on and the people helping protect this natural space.
